We are a Berber-Italian couple, Simona and Said Our story starts in 2006 when we meet in the Moroccan desert, fall in love and decide to start a life together, among many difficulties but always supported by a great enthusiasm. Today we live between Italy and Morocco and we have a Berber Italian child, Mattia.
The Maroccotour adventure starts in 2007, at first almost for fun. We are legally registered in Italy as travel consultants and since 2007, we have been promoting customized trips to Morocco, carefully designed to discover the more authentic and unusual aspects of this beautiful country.
We specialize in desert trips and excursions—a magical place that has always enchanted the eyes and heart with its golden dunes, soft curves, and surreal silence.
However, we also offer itineraries throughout Morocco, from the imperial cities to the sea and mountains.
All our tours are customizable: you can choose the dates, itinerary, and number of travelers, and we will create a tailor-made journey that meets your needs.
We believe that even a one-week trip can be experienced with the spirit of a traveler rather than that of a “tourist.”
That is why we propose tours inspired by the love and respect of the local people and their territory. Trips that will leave a mark on your heart.
Discovering the Berbers
Our tours, often with the Erg Chebbi Desert (Merzouga) as the main destination, are also a journey into the heart of Berber culture—an enchanting and hospitable nomadic people who will gladly share their ancient traditions, customs, and a lifestyle shaped by the slow and silent rhythms of the desert.
In the desert, you will have the opportunity to stay in an authentic Berber house and experience firsthand the exquisite hospitality of this people.

Said
I am a Berber, I was born in a nomad family in the Erg Chebbi desert, near Merzouga. When I was 7 years old, my family decided to abandon their nomad way of life because of the draught and the lack of pastures for our animals. With many sacrifices we have managed to build a little house in the small village of Hassi labied, in front of the dunes, 5 km from Merzouga. I have been working in tourism since I was little to help my family: I sold the fossils which my father found in the desert, I accompanied tourists on excursions and worked in a hotel in the desert. Today I live in Umbria, a green region in the center of Italy, but I also spend part of the year in my beloved desert.

Simona
I am originally from Umbria, but I have always felt a bit like a nomad, a lover of travel and fascinated by cultures different from my own. After working for several years in the tourism sector, I met Said in his wonderful desert and helped him realize his dream: to create a travel consulting website that would introduce everyone to his extraordinary country and its people. This is how Maroccotour was born, a dream that has become a solid reality and is now run independently by Said, while I teach English – another of my passions – at a high school. Whenever we can, we return to Morocco with our son Mattia, who shares with us a love for this authentic land full of treasures. I like to think that Maroccotour, which I helped bring to life, is a bridge between my country of origin and Morocco: a small step toward knowledge, understanding, and openness to what is different.
