This tour can also be done in reverse, i.e. starting from Fez and finishing the tour in Marrakech. It is possible with some airlines (including Ryanair) to book flights with arrival in Marrakech and departure from Fez or vice versa.
DAY 1: MARRAKECH – OUARZAZATE (4 and a half hours drive)
Meeting at your hotel in Marrakech (or at a riad booked by us). Departure for Ouarzazate through the suggestive landscapes of the Atlas and the spectacular Tiz n ‘Tichka pass. Visit the famous casbah of Ait Ben Addhou, set of many famous films such as “Gladiator”. Arrival in Ouarzazate and visit of the Kasbah Taourirt, former residence of the Pasha. Dinner and overnight in a casbah hotel with swimming pool in Ouarzazate
DAY 2: OUARZAZATE – SKOURA – DADES GORGES – TODRA GORGES (3 hours drive)
Breakfast at hotel Journey and stops along the valley of the Roses and the oasis of Skoura. Visit the Ameriddil kasbah in the Skoura palm grove. Continue to Boumalne Dades and drive along the Dades valley with its fantastic and colorful rock formations. Arrival at the Todra Gorges and visit of the Gorges (possibility of free or guided trekking). Dinner and overnight at the hotel in the Gorges
DAY 3: TODRA GORGES – ERG CHEBBI DESERT (2 and a half hours drive)
Breakfast at hotel Departure to the desert. Stop (optional) in Erfoud to visit a factory where fossils are processed or in Rissani to visit the weekly market. Arrival in the Berber village of Hassi Labied, 5 km from Merzouga in front of the suggestive golden sand dunes of the Erg Chebbi desert. Departure for the dromedary excursion to see the sunset in the dunes: arrival at the camp, dinner under the stars and night in a traditional Berber tent (standard or deluxe).
DAY 4: ERG CHEBBI DESERT
Sunrise in the desert. Return to the village by dromedary, 4×4 or on foot (guided trek from the camp to the village: duration 4 hours). 4×4 excursion to visit the Erg Chebbi desert: the lakes in the dunes; Khamilia, the village of Gnaoua (or Gnawa) musicians, former slaves of Sudan; the area of fossils and former mines. Return to the village. Walk in the village and in the oasis. Dinner and overnight in a Berber family house facing the dunes.
DAY 5: ERG CHEBBI DESERT – FEZ (7 hours drive)*
* possibility to break up the journey with an intermediate stage and overnight in Midelt, halfway between the desert and Fez. In this case, one day must be added to the tour.
Homemade breakfast with Moroccan specialties. Departure towards Fez through the Ziz valley and its spectacular palm grove, mountainous areas, the villages of Azrou and Ifrane and the cedar forest. Stops along the way. Arrival in Fez in the late afternoon. Free dinner and overnight in a riad in Fes
DAY 6: FEZ
Breakfast at hotel Guided tour of the evocative Medina of Fes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch in the Medina.
In the afternoon, free time for shopping, the hammam, a visit to the Andalusian Gardens.
Or in the afternoon: Excursion to Meknes and Volubilis (1 hour journey).
Free dinner and overnight in riad.
DAY 7: FEZ – ITALY
Breakfast at hotel Transfer to the airport for return flight.
